50&50 1997 90/100 "The joint effort between Capannelle and Avignonesi, called 1997 50&50, is a blend of equal parts Sangiovese from Capannelle and Merlot from Avignonesi's vineyard. It is only sold as a future, but I was told by the importer that there are about 25 cases available for the USA. A seriously-endowed, dense ruby/purple-colored effort with plenty of new oak, it is somewhat internationally-styled, with loads of extract, tannin, and richness. Wines such as this can be found at lower prices, but they will not have the names Capannelle and Avignonesi. Anticipated maturity: 2003-2016." –Robert Parker (Issue: Oct 2001, #137)
