The In Grandi Annate is a legendary Tuscan wine produced by Avignonesi only in the very best vintages, when we are able to craft a purebred Sangiovese, which stands out for character, body and ageing potential. We break down the harvest into homogeneous lots which we vinify separately. Then we single out the Sangiovese parcels which bring forth the most interesting facets of what our vineyards have offered and we craft them into the Grandi Annate. To capture the essence of the vintage, the In Grandi Annate blend changes every year.
The In Grandi Annate 2018 amazes with its intense fragrance and enveloping notes of rose petals, undergrowth, wild strawberry and liquorice. The palate is rich and luxurious. The cherry flavour dominates the mouth, accompanied by a subtle creamy vanilla aftertaste. A true ambassador of its habitat, giving balance and elegance to a slight acidic start.

Second half of September

VINIFICATION
Each plot was vinified separately and alcoholic fermentation took place with the use of indigenous yeasts. Alcoholic fermentation and maceration on the skins lasted up to 30 days, depending on the individual plots.

AGEING
18 months in large oak casks and oak tonneaux (500 ltr)

Grandi Annate 2016 amazes for its freshness and enveloping notes of wild strawberry and liquorice. On the palate it is rich and luxurious, with a creamy vanilla aftertaste. A real ambassador for its habitat, it brings balance and elegance to a slight acidic start.

The must from each vineyard was vinified separately and the fermentation was spontaneous, with the use of indigenous yeasts. Alcoholic fermentation and maceration on the skins lasted up to 30 days, depending on each vineyard lot.

18 months of which 85% in large oak casks and 15% in oak barrels (500 ltr) and used barriques (225 ltr)

In Grandi Annate 2015 shows a beautiful bouquet, with notes of dill, licorice, cheroot and violet. The wine is rich, with silky tannins and is a typical expression of the terroir, mirroring the balance of a soil rich in clay, limestone and sand.

The sediments you might find in this wine show that it is made of pure Sangiovese with minimal intervention. The deposit is due to its high content of a natural antioxidant called quercetin, which is perfectly safe. This is not a flaw, it is a characteristic of the pure Sangiovese.​
