Avignonesi wines begin with a conscious agricultural gesture
We cultivate 177 hectares between Montepulciano and Cortona and vinify only what we grow.
Each wine expresses a place, a grape variety and a vintage. Our five families reflect our way of making wine.
The Sangiovese Tales
Sangiovese is the grape variety that best represents Avignonesi. Sensitive to its environment, it reflects differences in soil, exposure and water availability.
In Montepulciano, over 100 hectares are harvested as more than 60 distinct micro-parcels, each vinified separately.

QX Toscana I.G.T. Rosato
Quercus Ilex is the Latin name for the holm oak. We chose to dedicate a special wine to our Fattoria Capezzine, and we could think of no more fitting name than that of this immense and inspiring tree.
Wines Steeped in Vision and History
Avignonesi was born from the meeting of Montepulciano and Cortona.
In the 1970s, Cortona opened to the experimentation of international grape varieties in Tuscany, with Merlot as a key protagonist.
Desiderio emerged from this turning point.
Marzocco and Grifi complete this path, offering a broader reading of the territory alongside Sangiovese.
-
Desiderio Toscana I.G.T. Merlot
Desiderio was a bull that lived on Avignonesi’s Le Capezzine estate over a hundred years ago. This is Merlot from Tuscany at its finest.
-
Grifi Toscana I.G.T.
It is Avignonesi’s flagship Supertuscan, a historic icon of our past, brought back to life through the vision of the current owners. A bold wine with a strong character.
-
Il Marzocco Toscana I.G.T. Chardonnay
In 1987, our winery was the first in Tuscany to produce a white wine aged in barrel. Today, this wine continues to set trends with its vinification in a concrete egg, a terracotta amphora, and oak barrels.
50&50: the encounter of two Tuscan characters
50&50 was born in 1988 from a friendship between Avignonesi and Capannelle.
It is one of the first joint ventures in Italian wine and a unique project in the wine landscape: bringing together in a single wine two territories and two grape varieties - Merlot and Sangiovese - while preserving the identity of both.
-
50&50 Toscana I.G.T.
50&50 is a wine born of friendship: the friendship that binds the owners of Avignonesi in Montepulciano and Capannelle in Chianti Classico, and their shared desire to strive for excellence through their wines.
-
50&50 Toscana I.G.T. Rosato
50% “Dolce Vita” and 50% “La vie en rose” form the unique blend of the first 50&50 Rosato. The La Dolce Vita and the La vie en rose evoke the sense of privilege that we wished to share with you through this wine.
Vin Santo: the ancient soul
Vin Santo has always been part of Avignonesi’s history. It ages for over ten years in small caratelli in the vinsantaia.
Occhio di Pernice, made from Sangiovese, is its rarest expression.
Da•Di: an open-air experimentation
The Da•Di family was born with a dual purpose: to highlight native grape varieties and to explore new expressions of wine.
It is an open-air laboratory, where fermentation and ageing take place in amphora, without pressure or compromise.
-
Da•Di Toscana I.G.T. Bianco
Born from Virginie’s vision to rediscover the potential of the Cortona region for producing great white wines from indigenous grapes, Da·Di Bianco embodies all of Avignonesi’s spirit of experimentation.
-
Da•Di Toscana I.G.T. Rosso
